370: ‘Solo’ I Can’t Hear You Boycotting, With Joe Sinclitico And Alison Stevenson

This week on the Frotcast, we’re recording from the new Frotquarters in LA for the first time ever! But we’ve got that same ol’ Frotcast magic, thanks to returning guests comedian Joe Sinclitico and comedienne Alison Stevenson — with Matt Lieb joining remotely and Vince Mancini handling the controls. This week we’re talking ‘Solo,’ sort of, and the weird, Gam3rg8-esque backlash that’s convinced that Kathleen Kennedy is using Star Wars to advance a “feminist agenda.” We also discuss Gringo, the John McAfee documentary about how he likes to kill people and eat poop (seriously, he lets ladies poop in his mouth). And we learn about Alison’s dating life, talk “ghosting,” and all the 21st century relationship etiquette. Enjoy and Frot on, donate at Patreon.com/Frotcast and don’t forget to review us on iTunes so we can climb the charts and rule the world.

345: Dave Lozo on The Accountant

With Allison Mick stuck in traffic, we’ve got Dave Lozo joining Vince and Matt Lieb on the Frotcast this week, to discuss the Tomb Raider remake, JJ Abrams, Sean Spicer at the Emmys, Hillary Clinton’s terrible book, THE ACCOUNTANT, and Lawrence O’Donnel’s Bill O’Reilly’style freakout. And of course, we finish things off with a round of the Royalty Freestyle, with Matt improvising songs for Patreon donors Jon G and Dan L. Enjoy, and Frot on! Donate at Patreon.com/Frotcast

6:52 – The Dave Lozo career arc
10:00 – A TOMB RAIDER remake! Sure, why not.
15:33 – JJ Abrams directing STAR WARS EPISODE IX
19:30 – Sean Spicer at the Emmys-gate
38:10 – Matt and Dave have terrible opinions about BABY DRIVER
40:09 – Hillary Clinton loves Goldfish crackers! So relatable.
47:30 – An important update about “Doughp”, San Francisco’s first hip hop themed cookie dough restaurant
1:12:52 – Lawrence O’Donnell freak out

291: Captain America Civil War, with Matt Lieb and Patrick Schumacker

We dedicated an entire Frotcast to one movie this week — Captain America: Civil War! Comedian Matt Lieb (Flophouse) and TV writer Patrick Schumacker (Sh*t My Dad Says, Surviving Jack, iZombie) join Vince Mancini to talk Cap, the superhero genre in general, Marvel vs DC and everything else. Afterwards, we talk about Beyonce and Jay-Z for some reason, cheating, and the usual dose of weird sex talk with Matt Lieb.

Frotcast 268: Playboy, Justin Bieber’s Nudes, Steve Jobs, ‘Sad Bastard’ Author Lee Keeler

Bret and Brendan join FilmDrunk’s Vince Mancini in the Frotquarters as we talk to ‘Sad Bastard’ author Lee Keeler, Justin Bieber’s nudes, Playboy, the Steve Jobs movie, Greg Hardy and domestic violence, and how to get “dad woke.”

2:30 – Justin Bieber’s penis pics, and the phenomenon of celebrity parents’ saying super creepy things about their kids.
7:25 – The Tod Maffin Update! We still don’t know for certain that #Content #Marketing expert Tod Maffin is a real person and not a robot, but we love him. Somehow all of his friends all sound like Tim & Eric/Pynchon characters.
9:30 – We try to sing Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” with our mouths for some reason.
17:35 – Lee Keeler, comedian, writer, producer, joins us to talk about ‘Sad Bastard: Practical Wisdom For the Modern A$$hole.’ The first non-aspirational men’s magazine.
41:20 – Playboy drops nudes. We discuss how advertising is building us pigeonholes and the compartmentalization of desire.
52:00 – One of our favorite subjects, Bryant Gumbel sounding like an obnoxious douche.
54:00 – Brendan leads us into a discussion of Greg Hardy and the NFL’s trouble with domestic violence. Brendan coins the term “Dad Woke.”
1:02:00 – ‘Steve Jobs,’ and Aaron Sorkin. Is there anyone else so simultaneously talented and infuriating?
1:19:15 – EMAILS. We advise a listener (probably badly) who wants to know how to hit on a girl in his film class.

265: Martin Shkreli, Nicole Arbour, Bostonian Fishermen, and Mr. Robot

Bret and Laremy (from Film.com) join FilmDrunk’s Vince Mancini for another #Content-filled Frotcast, from Mr. Robot and Show Me A Hero, to pharma bro villain Martin Shkreli and internet anti-hero Nicole Arbour. We also talk the 2015 Oscar race and Johnny Depp burying his baubles. Enjoy.
1:00 – Laremy explains why Brad & Laremy on Movies no longer exists and why his dog is always biting people.3:45 – Mr. Robot Talk7:30 – Mr. Robot vs. Fight Club8:20 – Spoilery dicussion of Show Me A Hero. “Oscar Isaac, I am in his teenage fan club.” -Bret. (ends around the 11-minute mark)19:00 – The new Last Witch Hunter trailer. 23:00 – The Boston guys on the boat who have discovered A BABY FACKIN WHALE, MAN. Everyone sent us this clip today, but SUPRISE, we already heard and talked about it.28:00 – Johnny Depp’s burying-my-baubles commercial. 30:25 – Martin Shkreli, the AIDS drug-price-raising pharma bro, plus, my controversial theory that people hate his face more than anything he has said or done. 34:00 – I PREDICTED a pro-Martin Shkreli thinkpiece, which came to pass before we’d even edited.35:00 – The DirecTV commercials, and have they taken a weird, quasi-homophobic turn?40:00 – Coors Light ads. 43:20 – Nicole Arbour and her latest video. Our hypothesis: Nicole Armour is the monster that internet celebrity has created. Bret worries that he is Nicole Arbour. 1:03:55 – Oscar contenders. What will they be?? Our predictions.1:10:18 – Your emails, including how to deal with your terrible film school classmates. Bret and I swap college film class stories.

237: ‘Scarehouse’ Director Gavin Booth

Back from hiatus, we’ve got Matt Lieb and Brendan in the Frotquarters with Ben joining via Skype. We talk about Matt Lieb’s newly-acquired quicksand porn (thanks, listeners!), read an alleged treatment for Kevin Spacey’s body-swap-with-a-cat comedy sent in by a listener, and talk about my trips to the AVN Awards and to Sundance. Then we bloop in Gavin Booth, director of Scarehouse, to talk about the challenges of shooting a horror movie and being Canadian, and also the dumb things people ask at Q & As. Also, I convince everyone to see Jupiter Ascending because it’s one of the most ridiculous movies ever. Enjoy!

233: ‘Where The Juggalo Roam’ Artist Lucy Owen, The Interview Kerfuffle

This week on the Frotcast, Vince, Matt Lieb, and Brendan welcome artist Lucy Owen via Skype. Owen’s series of Juggalo portraits, Where The Juggalo Roam, is currently on display in Detroit. We swap her stories about this year’s Gathering of the Juggalos with ours about last year’s and compare our, American male reactions to the Gathering and Juggalo culture with her British female ones. We also talk about Matt’s latest commercial gig. And of course, we couldn’t not mention the Sony hack, The Interview’s canceled release clusterf-ck, and all about North Korea and doxxing. Enjoy.

Frotcast 203: Burnsy’s Corner & More Fun With Sterling, With Torio Van Grol

“He had those AIDS!” This week, we have some fun with Donald Sterling talking about Magic Johnson, Burnsy introduces three songs of summer in Burnsy’s Corner: Froggy Fresh’s “Stolen Bikes 2,” Stitches, with “Brick In Yo Face,” and an abomination called “The Plastics.” We talk about hemorrhoids, the most Florida things Burnsy has ever seen, and Ben bloops in from Malaysia. Our guest this week is comedian Torio Van Grol. Enjoy!

Frotcast 201: Paul Shirley & Laremy Talk Donald Sterling & Short Term 12

Former NBA player Paul Shirley joins us at the top of the frot this week to talk about Donald Sterling and all the actual racist stuff he’s done vs. the weird stuff he said to his mistress that he actually got in trouble for. Questions include: is falling all over yourself to condemn him a case of thou dost protest too much? And is it better to have honest racists or racists who are smart enough to censor themselves? After that, we talk about the “botched” execution and the idea of cognitive dissonance in general, and then we get a visit from Ben, live from Thailand. He tells us about partying with monkeys and the beach where they shot The Beach, and we wrap things up with Film.com’s Laremy Legel on the subject of Short Term 12. Oh, and Matt Lieb finally comes clean about what it is about quicksand porn that he finds so hot. Enjoy.
