222: The Frotcast Crew Reunites For Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure

The full Frotcast crew, Vince, Ben, Bret, Brendan, and Matt, are all together in the Frotquarters for the first time in years to discuss Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure before a House of Prime Rib dinner. The Frotcast’s Excellent Meat Reward, call it. We open talking about Bill Simmons’ suspension from ESPN and the confusing nature of the NFL and ESPN’s supposed independence. MANDY IS A FOOL.This leads us to a discussion of Kevin Smith’s new movie Tusk, which was of course based on a podcast, leading us to wonder what a Frotcast-inspired movie would consist of. Our money is on Gary From Fremont: The Movie. RIDE WITH ME.After that I read Matt Lieb’s funniest post to date, leading to much hilarity. MANDY IS A FOOL.
Then we talk about the anti-vaxxer crowd, and Bret having to stand in line at the pediatrician behind someone getting a Personal Beliefs Exemption for his son, Jaden. This leads us to a reader-sent roll of a kindergarten in Eastern Kentucky (I will post this list on FilmDrunk). FOR MY PLEAZURE.
We get into Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and the great mall culture explosion of the 1980s, and we finish off with your emails and relationship questions.
MANDY IS A FOOL.

221: Rating Alison Stevenson’s Dick Pics

This week on the FilmDrunk Frotcast, we invite comedian, VICE and FilmDrunk contributor, and online dater Alison Stevenson into the Frotquarters to read from her creepiest Tinder and OKCupid messages, and we rate the quality of dick pics she has received. We also talk about porn and the first time we all masturbated, then we Skype in Ben and talk about the various NFL debacles involving Ray Rice, Roger Goodell, and Adrian Peterson, and discuss Ken Burns and his new documentary about The Roosevelts. Enjoy!

220: The Room, with former Tommy Wiseau Employee Aaron Barrett

If you’ve ever seen The Room, the biggest question on your mind is most likely: who is this Tommy Wiseau and where did he come from? Wiseau reportedly spent $6 million of his own money making the best/worst classic, and not only does no one really know where he made so much that he could afford this, they don’t know Tommy’s country of origin (a Redditor recently claimed Poland, which is entirely plausible). He has an Eastern European accent and seems to speak French, but claims to be from Louisiana. He says things like “As an American…” and his self-written critic blurbs for The Room raved “the new Tennessee Williams is a ragin’ cajun!”
I recently finished Greg Sestero’s wonderful book about the making of The Room and his relationship with Wiseau, The Disaster Artist. 300 or so pages later, I was still full of questions. As it happens, one of my friends from the SF comedy scene, Aaron Barrett, a comedian and rock drummer who moved to San Francisco in 1991, worked for Tommy Wiseau for 11 years (!!!!), making him one of the few people on Earth to have known Tommy Wiseau nearly as long as Greg Sestero. After taking away Bret’s The Room virginity, we invited Aaron Barrett into the Frotquarters to see if he could help fill in any of the gaps in Tommy Wiseau’s mysterious biography, and alternately torture him with bad “YOU ARE TEARING ME APART!” impressions. Enjoy.

219: The Great Celebrity Nudes Leak Of 2014( (The Fappening)

This week on the Frotcast, Matt Lieb, Bret, and Brendan are live with Vince in the Frotquarters (plus Laremy Legel on Skype) for a Frotcast about the great celebrity nude leak of 2014, aka The Fappening. We talk about the impulse to take nudes, as well as the impulse to criticize people when bad things happen to them. As usual, Bret thinks he can trace the cognitive roots of these impulses in his newly-named, Disturbed-inspired segment, “Down With The Thinkness.”
Before we get to that, we open the show with more of Lieb’s exuberant quotings from Red Dragon, some discussion of ‘The Trip’ and ‘The Trip To Italy’ (on the subject of Michael Caine impressions) and Schnitzel Bob’s incredible Matt Lieb fan-fiction. Matt Lieb talks about hanging with Jeff Ross, and the advice he gets from comedians he has to open for in general, including a great story about a friend of Gabriel Iglesias getting in a fist fight with an audience member in San Jose.
At about 30 minutes, we bring Laremy on. He reads us an awesome new list, and we talk about The Fappening. There’s plenty to chew on there, and that occupies us until we get to your email questions. Enjoy!
