Filmdrunk 106: Matt Louv and Newsroom

This week we bring back the Museum of Comedy Matt Louv. He reads his amazing OK Cupid emails, then we talk about Newsroom for awhile, discuss pick up lines and online dating, and the usual jackassery.

00:03:00 – Vince recently saw Queen of Versailles, a documentary about a billionaire Florida couple and their time-share business hit hard by the economic crisis. Brendan shares a some family news. Guest Matt Louv and Vince talk shop (open mics) a bit.
00:11:07 – Fantasy Film Box Office talk. Ben is still leading the way by a large margin.
00:18:05 – Museum of Comedy Matt Louv reads some of his emails sent to OK Cupid profiles and some of the responses he got. The guys talk about online dating, key words in profiles to avoid, and photo tropes. Favorite pickup lines or anti-pickup lines are brought up, as well as Mystery the Pickup Artist.
0053:05 – The guys review Aaron Sorkin’s new smarmy show The Newsroom. Vince plays some clips, Brendan yells, and Bret stands up for the show. There is talk of Sorkin’s prickishness, internet opinionators, and the objectivism in journalism and news. The Sorkinism supercut gets some play.
01:26:20 – The Miami Zombie story seems to have come to a conclusion. Only marijuana was found in his system.

Filmdrunk 104: David Gborie and Prometheus

This week we have a great time with comedian David Gborie. We listen to a news clip of a twilight named cat eating its’ owner, we get into a heated discussion about Prometheus, we talk about Juggalos, and drunk on.

00:01:41 – There was a lot of good feedback from last week’s episode with Joe King, and Vince plays a clip of some of the movie pitches to recap. Guest comedian David Gborie introduces himself to the Frotcast. He grew up in a meth-riddled town in Colorado full of Juggalos, where an occasional hatchet rampage would break out. The guys discuss the Juggalos use of “ninja.” Vince and David talk about the time they took their shirts off in public. Vince also tells a depressing weed story.
00:28:50 – With photos from the latest Twilight movie making news, Vince plays a local news story where a cat named Renesmee viciously attacked her owner in the middle of the night. Vince and racism get brought up, as well as calling actors by their character’s names.
00:50:02 – Talk smoothly segues into a very spoilerific (and a little heated) discussion about Prometheus, so skip ahead if you haven’t seen the film yet. Despite the characters’ gimmicks, a lack of payoff to Alien, and some frustration with the story, it comes highly recommended. See it in IMAX if possible, and the 3D is used exceptionally well. The guys also get into the apparent problems 3D causes the human eye.
01:17:58 – With the current term YOLO popping its head up all over twitter, the guys take to task the existential buffoons that fall far it. Brendan reveals his dream tattoo as a teenager, which leads to the group talking about some of the horrible early-90’s fashion, especially some of the t-shirt lines.
01:28:04 – Vince went to a crazy Christian wedding over the weekend where the groom sang some interesting lyrics. Some other religions get talked about. The guys wonder if Samuel L. Jackson has become the Al Pacino of his generation.

Filmdrunk 103: Movie Pitches with Joe King, AVN Awards

This week we bring on Joe King to tell us about his amazing acting class where he gets to make out with hot chicks… Then he tells us his amazing movie ideas- which involve Jesus and a young girl with special powers, not to mention his idea for “Kilmer vs. Kilmer.” We also listen to clips from the AVNs, read some listener emails and play the trailer for Django Unchained.

00:01:24 – Vince reads a porn press release he received. Good news, Adam & Eve are back as well as the live reads from guys. The AVN Awards aired recently, and Vince plays some clips from the show. The insufferable banshee Jesse Jane is back, and almost future Frotcast guest Riley Steele gives an interesting acceptance speech. With the news of Miley Cyrus getting engaged, the guys discuss the pitfalls of being in that relationship. The Frotcast legacy is talked about, which breaks down to poop transplants and the Monkey Scoop.
00:26:25 – Joe King returns to the Frotcast while taking a break from his acting class where he gets to make out with chicks. He gets all actor-y discussing the play he’s doing in class, the level of hotness of the actresses in his class, and how close to fame he’s getting (some guy from Bring It On 2 is in his class).
00:45:17 – Joe has some more movie ideas he would like to share with the Frotcast. He has Kilmer vs Kilmer, a story about a homeless Gary Busey helping a teenage girl harness her abilities, a remake of Friday with puppets that takes place in Africa, an action film with a Mexican Jean Claude Van Damme saving Mexico City, and a sci-fi/action flick with Jesus.
01:01:10 – The guys want to dig deeper into Joe’s acting exercises. They find out how he would like to prepare for a scene, and that he has a Bane impersonation.
01:09:34 – There is some Fantasy Summer Box Office talk, and about how well Snow White and the Huntsman fared. A couple of listener emails are read detailing the adventures of of Monkey Scooping in China, asking if it OK to masturbate at work, and someone finally gives Bret some love…well, sort of. Vince plays the Django Unchained trailer, reveals he doesn’t know what Astronaut Ice Cream is, and tells a story about his dad at MOMA. You can also learn the story behind “Good night and good chins.”
