Howdy, Frot fans! Matt Lieb is off living his dreams on Maui, drinking virgin daquiris and getting his picture taken with parrots like a 10-year-old, but as we know, the Frot sleeps for no one, not even when they’re getting lei’d. This week your old pals, comedian Joe Sinclitico and Whoop Dreams star Laremy Legel, are in the virtual Frotquarters to talk about how we’re old and nothing works anymore (…societally), and how it sucks that when you become a father you lose the ability to get in fights with local teens, even when they’ve been very unfair to you. Joe saw the James Bond, No I Will Not Go Out And Die Tonight, so we discuss that, and how we could fix the James Bond franchise. After that, we discuss the latest NFT scandal, with the Evolved Ape NFTs and try to understand what the hell NFTs even are. And whether it counts as fraud if you get ripped off in the act of trying to participate in a Ponzi scheme. Meanwhile, Laremy reveals that he owns NFTs himself, and that he’s heavily invested in animals who play in gutters. We also talk Dave Chappelle, and far too late into the show, Joe reveals that he recently became the inadvertent center of a culture war incident and damn near got himself torn apart by an angry mob. In all honesty, that’s the way I always assumed Joe would go.

One thing I’m annoyed that I didn’t say in the show is that I really wish Ben was still alive to make fun of NFTs. Whenever we talk about them I think about how no one I know would appreciate the humor of NFTs like Ben would. As long as you think about Ben riffing on NFTs with us, maybe a little bit of Ben is still alive in our hearts.

TEASER – Noomi Rapace and Valdimar Jóhannsson from LAMB

Hey, Frotcast fans. I’ve gotten mostly positive feedback on the interviews I’ve shared, so I thought what the hell, I guess I’ll keep posting them.

This week I got to talk to Noomi Rapace and Valdimar Johansson from the movie Lamb. Valdimar directed it and Noomi Rapace stars. You may also know her from such films as Prometheus, the original Swedish versions of the Girl with The Dragon Tattoo movies, and The Drop. Which, just as an aside, to me was the superior dog revenge movie, though it got got unfairly overshadowed by John Wick.

Anyway, that’s neither here nor there. Like I said, the movie is called Lamb, it’s from A24, and it’s out in theaters this weekend. It’s about a couple, named Maria and Ingvar, who live on a farm in Iceland, who sort of have their lives changed by this baby lamb. I thought it was beautifully shot and just enjoyably weird.

We don’t get into too much spoiler territory in this, at least nothing that’s not in the Trailer. Aaaaand. Well, I’m pretty sure that’s all you need to know. Anyway, hope you enjoy it, and if not we’ll have lots of regular Frotcasts coming your way.

Frotcast 488 – Venom Let There Be Kidney Ladies with Zack Chapaloni

Time for your weekly dose of content slop from your favorite “movie” podcast, the Filmdrunk Frotcast. This week, Matt and Vince welcome comedian Zack Chapaloni back to the Frot to talk about that New York Times Magazine piece about the lady who donated a kidney and was mad that her writer friends didn’t congratulate her enough on Facebook and then sued one of them. It’s an amazing story. Also, the boys talk about Venom: Let There Be Carnage which is a movie in which a gay-coded slime monster comes out of the closet only to realize everything he ever wanted was right under his alien smelling organ the whole time. Finally, Matt has a very important message for all progressive organizers out there.

TEASER – Frotcast Interview With AJ Galante

An interview with AJ Galante, the son of an alleged mobster whose father bought a hockey team to run when he was in high school.

Hey, Frotcast fans. Matt is in Portland helping Francesca with a live show this week and we already recorded a new Pod Yourself A Gun, but I’ve got another interview for the Frotcast feed this week.

So, this week there was a new episode of Untold, the sports documentary series from Netflix. They already released a Malice At The Palace episode and a couple others. This latest one is from Maclain Way and Chapman Way, the brothers who did Wild Wild Country. This latest one is about a hockey team called the Danbury Trashers. Basically there was this alleged mobster named Jimmy Galante who ran a trash hauling empire from Danbury, Connecticut. His son AJ was a hockey player, but in his senior year AJ had a really bad injury that ended his hockey career. So in 2004 his dad ends up buying a minor league hockey team and he makes AJ, who was 17 at the time, the general manager.

AJ finds all the best goons and basically turns them into real-life Slapshot. I got to interview AJ this week, and it felt relevant to the Frotcast fans for obvious reasons. With Jimmy Galante in the trash business in a New York suburb, and having a teenage son named AJ, the Sopranos parallels are pretty obvious. In the doc they say that the Sopranos might’ve been partially based on them, but I haven’t found a source for that. Anyway, AJ was a lot of fun to talk to, and I thought it would be a lot more fun to actually hear his voice than just reading it on Uproxx. So, I hope you like it. As always, we have a lot more free stuff on the Pod Yourself A Gun feed, but we’re doing our best to keep that content slop flowing. Hope it fills your snouts.

Frotcast Bonus: Billy Corben On ‘Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings Of Miami’

Hey, Frotcast fans. I have this interview for you I did with Billy Corben this week. He directed The U, the Cocaine Cowboys movies, Screwball, Broke on 30 for 30 — I think this is the third time I’ve talked to him, so we sort of know each other by now. He’s a great talker and always a great interview. His latest is called Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings Of Miami, and it’s out on Netflix. It’s about these guys Sal Magluta and Willy Falcón who were trafficking cocaine in Miami in the 80s and 90s. Beyond that I don’t think there’s anything you need to know to understand it. My voice sounds a little weird at first because I was getting an echo and I had to put a filter on my track, but hopefully it isn’t too bad. It also goes away about halfway through.

We haven’t done many episodes on the free feed lately, just because we’ve been busy doing Pod Yourself A Gun, and those are all free. TEASER – Frotcast 479: Empathy Is Problematic, With Shereen Younes

This week on the Frotcast, Shereen Younes from Ethnically Ambiguous is back on the pod to grill Matt about what it’s like being a twin, and whether twin comedians resent other twin comedians. We also talk about American Underdog, and Zachary Levi playing Kurt Warner in what sounds like a Christian film. In the process, we discover that Zachary Levi isn’t Jewish. Other topics include Shaquille O’Neal and an article Matt found in which someone with diagonosed psychosis explains which commonly used terms, such as “empathy,” are actually problematic. We take a side route into bike twitter, and finally, we even manage to discuss a movie — Zola, about the stripper tweet thread (no spoilers!). Finally, we explain why calling our listeners piggies is actually a term of endearment.

Frotcast 473 – The DeVil Wears Doggos

It’s time for your regularly scheduled program, the Filmdrunk Frotcast with Vince Mancini and Matt Lieb. This week, the boys watched the brand new Disney Plus movie event Cruella, an origin story for the fashionista/dog murdering villain from 101 Dalmatians. I’m positive this joke has been made before but it’s basically The Joker without all of that pesky incel energy. It’s a touching film about a #GirlBoss who slays the patriarchy on her long road to eventually slaying dogs. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest smart TV and stream it now.

We also discuss Bo Burnham’s new comedy special Inside as well as Ellie Kemper’s recent kerfuffle with being crowned the Yellow Queen at the KKK prom or something. Finally, Laremy Legal makes an appearance. Enjoy!

It was Oscars week this past week, and you know what that means. The glitz! The glamour! The poorly-conceived bits! Da Butt! Pod Yourself A Gun producer and LA comedian/host of the Reactivaders podcast Brent Flyberg joins Vince and Matt as we DIG IN, to all of the various Oscar controversies and keep our piggies’ greedy snouts filled with slop. Is Hollywood too out of touch and that’s why no one wanted to watch the Oscars? Is it PC culture run amok when Adrien Brody can’t even force Halle Berry to make out with him onstage anymore? And has Donald Trump reached his ultimate form in becoming the guy who emails his complaints about the Oscars to media outlets? We discuss all this and more, like whether we’re going to go bald and how quickly Prince William went from young handsome heartthrob to British-looking British man who looks just like Prince Charles. Finally we catch up with Doug Ellin and the cast of Entourage, who apparently have a new podcast out about Entourage and how great it was, and how HBO is too PC now to do an Entourage remake, or let the Entourage boys continue making money from Entourage. There’s a four-hour superhero movie out, and like a beacon over Gotham it has attracted your old pal, former Editor in Chief of Film.com and the star of Whoop Dreams, Laremy Legel. No, Laremy didn’t actually *see* Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but did he need to? Discuss. Vince and Matt did see it though, and honestly anyone could probably predict the whole thing sight-unseen, minus The Joker promising (threatening?) to give Batman a reach-around. We go deep on the four-hour Sucker Punch cut, from The Flash (Matt loves him, Vince doesn’t) to Cyborg (what’s his deal?), but before we get to that, we have a lot to talk about. For instance, we discover that the brain is made out of ground beef and we have a new article to read about Orlando Bloom’s daily routine. While you may remember him as Legoland from Lord Of The Rings, he’s also a Buddhist. He has some really revolutionary theories about brain oil, Buddhism, and how to stay off social media by only doing Buddhism on Instagram. Oh, but that’s not all! Because this also the week when Thomas Middleditch made headlines for being creepy (ALLEGEDLY) at a goth sex club in Hollywood. Apparently the place was a hotbed of sexual assault, which is terrible news, because if you can’t trust a group of 50-something electronica musicians who dress up like Dracula to respect women these days who can you?

Frotcast Extra: Murder Among The Mormons, With Jared Hess And Tyler Measom

On Netflix this week, there’s a new docu-series called Murder Among The Mormons. It’s about a series of murders in Salt Lake City in the 80s, so in some ways it’s your standard true crime in some ways. But it’s also set deep within the Mormon community, and follows this guy Mark Hofmann, a rare documents dealer and prolific documents forger. It’s full of all these eccentric characters, and it was directed by Tyler Measom, a doc director who has worked a lot for TV, and Jared Hess, the director of Napoleon Dynamite — the latter of which comes to make a lot of sense, since Hofmann is basically a Gentleman Broncos or Masterminds character come to life. Through this show you come to understand a lot of the kinds of characters that have inspired Hess throughout his career.

This was initially a conversation we had for a print interview on Uproxx, but not everything can fit in a print interview and I thought it was a fun conversation, so might as well share with you here.
